Upcoming Event in Elizabeth City

Dear Sirs:

I would like to share information about an upcoming annual event in Elizabeth City.

The Elizabeth City Historic Neighborhood Association invites you to enjoy Elizabeth City’s architectural history and to visit with some of its prior residents. Its ghostly residents, that is!

The Historic Ghost Walk is a fun, entertaining and informative combination of history lesson, home and building tour, and lively community theater. It is now in its eleventh year and this year's theme is the rich maritime history of the Albemarle Sound and the Pasquotank River. We will feature eight "ghosts" from the history books and seven venues ranging from historic homes to the new Museum of the Albemarle. Some of the more notable ghosts for this year include Amadas and Barlowe, explorers of the Albemarle, the Pirate Anne Bonney, Joel Van Sant of the moth boat fame, and the James Adams Floating Theater (Edna Ferber based the musical Show Boat on the James Adams). The James Adams Floating Theater will include a turn of the century musical review. Sponsored by the Elizabeth City Historic Neighborhood Association, the proceeds are earmarked for historic preservation.

Details of the 2007 Ghost Walk are:

Dates: October 26 and 27.

Times: 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm

Cost: $12.00

Location: Headquarters is at 511 East Main Street, Elizabeth City. All sites are in or near downtown.

Transportation between sites is provided.

Web page: http://www.historicghostwalk.org/

Phone: 1-888-936-7387

Ticket Sales: Tickets will be sold at various locations in town (to be announced) and at the Ghostwalk Headquarters on the days of the event.
