24th Walk for Hunger

24th Annual Walk for Hunger

Walk for Hunger 2007 will be held on October 14, 2007 at Charles Creek Park. Registration begins at 1:00 PM and the walk begins at 2:00 PM. The walk, fun and games for children, and the after-walk picnic will be part of a super afternoon in Elizabeth City. As a special treat, a participants' picnic will take place immediately after the walk. Montero's Restaurant is donating and preparing the treats.

Walkers, teams, and sponsors are registering every day. This year promises to be the best Walk for Hunger ever. Your Food Bank and the hungry men, women, and children in our communities rely on your participation to make this event a success. For each dollar that is raised the Food Bank is able to provide six pounds of food. Six pounds of food provides about five meals.

Click on the items below to download and print information sheets and forms to be a recruiter and/or participate in this year's walk. If you can't download the information and forms, please stop by the Food Bank at 109 Tidewater Way and pick up the materials, or call Janet at 252-335-4035, ext. 100 or John at ext. 111 and we will send you the materials. Check out their website for their Walk for Hunger Forms and Route Map.

ECSU invites you to come hear UNC System President Erskine Bowles, and perhaps express yourself.

You may remember Erskine Bowles as Chief of White House Staff for the Clinton Administration from 1997-98. Perhaps you remember his run for the US Senate in North Carolina. Perhaps you didn't know that he once served in the US Coast Guard. Erskine Bowles is now the President of the UNC College System of 16 campuses including ECSU.

Bowles is appearing from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday, Sept. 20 in the central auditorium at Kermit E. White Center of ECSU in Elizabeth City. The purpose of his visit is to hear from citizens who have ideas about how they would like ECSU and other state supported university campuses in North Carolina to serve our population to create a better future.

Admission is free. If you have a statement to make, please keep it brief, prepare it in advance if at all possible. Light refreshments will be served.
