The Elizabeth City-Pasquotank-Camden Emergency Operations Center was activated at 12:01 p.m. today, Friday, September 5, 2008 in anticipation of Tropical Storm Hanna.
Elizabeth City, Pasquotank and Camden Counties have all declared a State of Emergency. The area will be experiencing the affects from Tropical Storm Hanna with gale force winds of 40 mph beginning around midnight on Friday and continuing throughout the day on Saturday. The maximum sustained winds expected in our area are 55 mph. A threat for tornadoes in our area exists due to the storm track. While no evacuation orders are being issued at this time for the area, a Red Cross shelter will open on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Knobbs Creek Recreation Center on Ward Street.
The Emergency Operations Center will be utilizing its emergency notification system to keep our citizens apprised of the storm’s status. To receive updated storm information, please call the Pasquotank-Camden Hotline at 331-7474.
USA Dance Northeast NC Chapter #6102 on WVEC-TV
On September 3rd 2008 Maureen Donnelly, Chair of the Elizabeth City Area Convention & Visitors Bureau's (ECACVB) TDA Board, and Michael Turner, President of the USA Dance Northeast NC Chapter #6102, went onto WVEC-TV for a noon news interview with Lasalle Blanks. MUSEUM ANNOUNCES SATURDAY STORM CLOSING
(Elizabeth City, NC) Due to the approach of Tropical Storm Hanna the Museum of the Albemarle will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 6th.
We will reopen at our regular time (2:00 pm on Sunday, Sept. 7th)

Elizabeth City's Sign Ordinance Text Amendment
A meeting has been called for all Downtown Business owners/mangers for Thursday, September 11 at 6:00 pm at the City Wine Sellar. This is to discuss the news sign regulations and comments from the International Sign Assoc. so that everyone will be able to get their voice heard on the matter.

- TA 01-08 is a proposal to amend the Unified Development Ordinance, to update definitions and
regulation of signage in the City.

Regional Artist Project Grants Available
The Regional Artist Project Grants is a program that provides financial support to developing professionals by funding a project pivotal to the advancement of their careers as artists. Categories include dance, literature, drama, film, music and visual arts.
The participating counties are Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Carteret, Chowan, Craven, Currituck, Dare, Duplin, Edgecombe, Gates, Greene, Halifax, Hertford, Hyde, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Nash, Northampton, Onslow, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Pitt, Tyrell, Washington, Wayne and Wilson.
