DUCK HUNTING AT THE MUSEUM OF THE ALBEMARLE

(Elizabeth City, NC) The March 8, 2009 Albemarle Historic Roundtable will feature local historian Travis Morris. Mr. Morris has written several books focused on duck hunting in the Albemarle region. They include: Currituck Memories and Adventures: More Tales from a Native Gunner, Currituck: Ducks, Politics, and Outlaw Gunners, and Duck Hunting on Currituck Sound: Tales from a Native Gunner.

The lecture will take place in the Museum’s Gaither Auditorium at 2:00 pm. It is free and open to the public. Mr. Morris will be available for a book signing after the lecture.

Junior Museum Explorers at MOA!

JUNIOR MUSEUM EXPLORERS AT MOA

(Elizabeth City, NC) The Museum of the Albemarle presents "Junior Museum Explorers" on February 10, 2009 from 3:30 pm — 4:30 pm. This program will run regularly on the second Tuesday of each month and is free for 12-17 year olds.

These programs will focus on life during the Great Depression. Learn how people made a living in the Albemarle region during these hard economic times. Do you know what WPA, NRA, or FSA stood for? What did the New Deal bring to North Carolina? Learn about agriculture, industry and popular culture of the 1930's.

Museum Deadline near for Civil War dinner and lecture

DEADLINE NEAR

(Elizabeth City, NC) Just a reminder that Friday, January 23, 2009 is the deadline for Early Registration for the Civil War dinner and lecture. Cost is $10.00 per member or $12.00 per non-member for the Dinner and Lecture "North Carolina and President Lincoln" presented by Chris Meekins. The event is scheduled for Friday evening, February 6, 2009 beginning at 6:00 pm. The cost for members after January 23, 2009 will be $12.00 per person and for non members $15.00 per person. Registration forms can be picked up at the Museum of the Albemarle. For more information please call 252-335-1453.

Re-enactors and guest are welcome to participate in period attire.
