Life in the 1800's

The Museum of The Albemarle presents the Tar Heel Civilians Saturday, September 22 as they demonstrate what life was like back in the 19th century. The program runs from 10:00 am ‘til 2:00 pm where visitors can experience blacksmithing, spinning, music, and other aspects of everyday life in the 19th century. Students will participate in hands-on games and activities. This event is free to the public. For more information call the Education Department at 252-335-1453.


The Museum of the Albemarle is located at 501 South Water Street, Elizabeth City, NC. Serving Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hertford, Hyde, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrrell, and Washington counties, the museum is the northeast regional history museum of the North Carolina Division of State History Museums, Department of Cultural Resources, State of North Carolina.
