At first light, 150 two-man teams headed out for the Fishers of Men East Regional.

Despite several fishermen reporting tough conditions with high wind and cooler temperatures, Gil Burke and Michael Wenthe had no trouble.

The pair holds the tournament lead with a first-day catch of 17.87 pounds. Second place belongs to the father-son team of Larry and David Jacobs, who hauled in a five-fish limit weighing 17.39 pounds.

Keith Meads and Gerald Murray currently have the biggest fish of the tourney, with a 6.60 pound lunker.

The tournament, which is being held on the Pasquotank River, concludes today.
