Elizabeth City State University - Lyceum Series with The Platters

Elizabeth City State University
Lyceum Series with The Platters

Saturday, June 14th at 7:00 P.M.

Elizabeth City – June 14, 2008 – Elizabeth City State University’s Lyceum Series presents Wilson Williams and The Platters for one show only starting at 7:00 pm in the Fine Arts Center on ECSU Campus located at 1704 Weeksville Rd Elizabeth City, NC 27909.

Wilson Williams and The Platters will be performing such classics as Only You, The Great Pretender, Remember When and Twilight Time and more in the upcoming Lyceum Series concert. The group that is now lead by Lonza Bartlett, an ECSU alumnus, had toured with Monroe Powell who was the third lead singer to headline the original Platters group since they formed back in the early 1950s. About a year ago, several members of Wilson Williams' Platters scouted Bartlett when he was singing at a Gospel music festival in downtown Fort Myers, Fla. Since then they have performed together in Atlantic City, Philadelphia, and Las Vegas, to name a few.

The show is sponsored by The Prism Group, Elizabeth City Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, Arts of the Albemarle, Mitchell Insurance and The Piano Nook. Tickets are available for $25 at the ECSU Cashier’s office, Mitchell Insurance at 1016 E. West Ehringhaus St, The Piano Nook at 202 McMorrine St. and the Fine Arts Center Box Office on the day of the show.

Elizabeth City Area CVB’s Director, Russ Haddad comments, "We welcome The Platters to the Harbor of Hospitality. Performers of the stature of The Platters don't come to the area very often, and with a homegrown talent in Lonza Bartlett being part of the group makes it that much more exciting. We encourage everyone to attend a sort of homecoming and support Lonza and The Platters."

For more info call the ECSU Cashier Station at (252) 335-3207 or (252) 335-8526 or Catherine Bunch at 252-267-6032.
