Carlotta Santana

On Saturday, March 21, Arts of the Albemarle invites you to experience Flamenco!

For only $10, you can participate in an actual dance lesson with the infamous Carlotta Sananta and select members of her dance troupe. If you are not interested in dancing, purchase the $5 ticket to be seated in the audience to see Carlotta in person and to watch as amateurs learn the famous dance. The program will begin promptly at 7:00 pm at the Main Street Stage above the Arts of the Albemarle Gallery. Only 26 participant tickets are available. Call 252-338-6455 for tickets or visit the Gallery at 609 E. Main Street.

Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana is one of the nation's premier flamenco and Spanish dance companies. We believe that the universal spirit of flamenco, a multicultural art form, has the power to build bridges between cultures and inspire audiences from diverse backgrounds. Artistic Director Carlota Santana leads this company of energetic dancers and musicians.

Founded in 1983 as Spanish Dance Arts Company, Carlota Santana and Roberto Lorca had a mission to bring flamenco to mainstream audiences. Mr. Lorca passed away in 1987, an untimely casualty of the AIDS epidemic, but Ms. Santana was determined to carry on his work. Since then Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana has grown into one of the leading flamenco companies in the United States with a mission to:
  • Promote flamenco as a living art form, a vital part of Hispanic Heritage

  • Create quality new dance works and present them in major theatrical venues

  • Present arts education programs that catalyze connections among people of different cultures

  • Nurture the next generation of Spanish dance artists
