"Our Story" A history of the Albemarle area featuring informative facts and over 750 artifacts.

Discovery Room: "Experience Life on the Farm": Families can try on clothing, practice chores and play games of the 30’s and 40’s. The Discovery Room is open to all visitors during regular museum hours.

Discover "Our Story" Every Wednesday, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Inspiring tours of the feature exhibit "Our Story" that focus on a selected era or topic spanning a variety of times, places, and genres.

Discover Special Exhibits: Every Thursday, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Tours provide meaningful insight into selected current exhibits.

Drop In Friday: 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Drop into the Museum to enjoy the featured program or activity. This program utilizes storytelling, activities, costumed interpretations or demonstrations. The program varies from week to week.

Art Ducko: This exhibit fills one of our expansion galleries and features more than 100 decoys by noted carvers, unique feathered fashions, and several exciting interactive activities for the entire family.

From Lights to Flight: United States Coast Guard Art Collection: tells the stories in art form of the many missions the Coast Guard performs daily.

Art From Our Guardians: the sister exhibit to From Lights to Flight, tells the history of the U.S. Coast Guard through a variety of artwork from photos, to paintings to figurines.

July

July 14, Tuesday, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm // Archaeology 101 for Children. Become an Archaeologist for the day! Visit with real archaeologists and view the tools of the trade. Visitors will participate in archaeological activities.

July 22, Wednesday, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm // Yo Ho Ho Pirates of North Carolina: Children grades K-2 will experience a high seas adventure at this exciting day camp by discovering pirates that sailed the coast of North Carolina. Paid Program: registration and supply fee are required

August

August 5 & 6, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm // Students ages 12 through 18 will explore the history of Elizabeth City and document their findings on film. Student photography will be displayed on exhibit at the Museum. Paid Program: registration and supply fee are required.

August 13, Thursday, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm // All About Pirates Day! Blackbeard’s Crew of Hampton Virginia will be on hand to roam and talk with visitors. Participate in pirate activities led by Junior Docents.
