The Elizabeth City Police Department is very pleased to announce exciting plans for the fifth annual "2009 National Night Out Against Crime," to be held on Tuesday, August 4th, 2009. This year's theme is, "Give Neighborhood Crime and Drugs A Going Away Party." The event will be held from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm at the city's beautiful Waterfront Park. We enjoyed such a success last year that we are anticipating over 100 different displays and events for this year's festival and hope to join over 5000 people for a night of crime free fun.
National Night Out is an event held across the nation to promote crime prevention, police-community partnerships and neighborhood unity. It is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watches as co-sponsored by law enforcement agencies all across the nation. Over 34 million people and more than 10,000 communities will join forces on Tuesday, August 4th, 2009 in an attempt to make their neighborhoods crime and gang free.
They are requesting your participation to enhance our community event and to express a determination to protest crime and gang activity and enjoy security within our homes and neighborhoods. They already have firm commitments from several law enforcement agencies, public safety entities, businesses and neighborhood organizations as well. They will include amusements for kids, entertainment for adults, tons of demonstrations, free giveaways, and an array of food vendors. As you can see, this will be an event well worth being apart of!
Vendor spots still available -- If you have any questions or require additional information on being a vendor please contact Officer Grace Carter at 252-384-3616.
