An Old Fashioned Downtown Holiday on the Harbor

The week of December 5th–12th looks to be an exciting week in Downtown Elizabeth City as the Downtown Business and Professional Association celebrates Holidays on the Harbor, a week of holiday festivities, shopping events, and fun activities for the entire family!

Participating stores and restaurants will be having holiday sales and other events. Many stores will have extended hours during the Holiday Parade and Grand Illumination (scheduled for December 5th, beginning at 5:30 pm), as well as during the themed shopping evenings on December 9th through 12th. Retailers will feature items and sales to make your holiday shopping as easy as a holiday pumpkin pie!

Shop on Ladies Night for that one-of-a-kind gift for her – December 9th

Peruse the retailers and restaurants on Men’s Night for that He-man goodie sure to please – December 10th

Make Friday night a Date Night at one of our famous restaurants and pubs – December 11th

Pick up presents galore for the kids on Childrens Day Saturday – December 12th

Collect a raffle ticket for each purchase made at a participating downtown business or restaurant for a chance to win great prizes! This promises to be a wonderful time for you and your family to enjoy our beautiful downtown, with events scheduled in the stores and at Mariners’ Wharf Park all week. Join us on Saturday, December 12th at Noon for a jolly ole dance performance by Got 2 Dance.

Be sure to participate in our First Annual Gingerbread House Contest. Its time to butter up those mixers and get creative in building and decorating your own Gingerbread home. Drop your Gingerbread House off at the former Arts of the Albemarle building on Main Street (next door to Port Discover) between the hours of 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on December 5th. The Gingerbread Homes will be displayed throughout the Holidays on the Harbor week. Winners will be announced on December 12th at 3:00 pm in the categories of: individual, families, children, organizations, and professionals.

Find the Gingerbread People Contest -- Join our search for the missing Gingerbread Village People last seen shopping or dining in downtown. Find all the missing Gingerbread people and be entered in our Grand Prize drawing. Pick up forms at Page After Page Bookstore or a participating merchant.

You’ll feel like you’re in and old fashioned holiday movie when you walk the beautifully decorated downtown streets. Enjoy the festive storefronts decorated with lights, trees, gingerbreads, and other joyous displays.
