Spread the word that "you can get your tax back".

Many businesses and organizations are facing financial challenges and for this reason River City Community Development Corporation understands that families and communities will need non-profit organizations to assist with free tax preparation.

While 80 percent of eligible North Carolinian's receive the EITC, conservative estimates are that workers leave at least $135 million unclaimed. That translates into another $200 million in economic stimulus lost when that money is not spent. In 2009, depending on their filing status, families can receive:

Filing Status - Single or Head of Household
Income Limit: Earn Less Than - $38,646
Number of Qualifying Children - More than 1
Maximum EITC Credit - $4,824
