An Outsiders Visit to E. City - May 2009

Our office (the Elizabeth City Area CVB) was notified of a great blog write-up of Elizabeth City today. It was written my TravelPod user Malbet, during their 'Leg 4 Back in the USA' trip (which their travels started on March 23, 2009 and will end on July 23, 2009).

Since Malc has discovered the new Google Streets that allows you to zoom in and actually see roads, buildings etc he likes nothing more than 'taking a look' at where we are going (helps with that old navigation too). We have used it to preview campgrounds and to ‘suss’ out whether we want to go somewhere. So we took a look at Elizabeth City, which is the largest town near us, 17 miles away. It looked rather drab and run down, so we weren’t too excited about it, in fact we nearly didn’t bother. What a shame that would have been, every now and than we kind of stumble on a gem, ‘Lizzie’ you did us proud. [read more]

There will be four Fridays available for team practice at Mariners' Wharf Park throughout the summer:
The last two Friday's in August, the first two in Sept: 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Equipment will be provided. Bring your own refreshments.

(Elizabeth City, NC) Ahoy! Blackbeard's Crew returns to the Museum of the Albemarle on Thursday, August 13 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm looking for fun! Blackbeard's Crew of Hampton Virginia, a troupe that accurately portrays pirates and their lifestyles, will be returning to the Museum to roam and talk with visitors. You decide if it'll be a "Pirates life for me," or not. Visitors will participate in pirate activities led by Junior Docents.

The Museum of the Albemarle is located at 501 South Water Street, Elizabeth City, NC. (252)335-1453. Hours are Tuesday - Saturday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Sunday 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
