To my fellow restaurateurs and business owners:

You may remember that after Hurricane Katrina, our City Council took action and did "Council for a Cause."

It was a great breakfast with our local leaders cooking and serving our community to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Now it is time to address the Haitian Earthquake.

"Council for a Cause, Hearts for Haiti" was announced at Tuesday morning's Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast at ECSU. The response was overwhelming.

So, I’m hoping that each restaurant and business will provide at least one of the following to support this event:

1 set up person

1 cook

1 break down person, or

1 server.

A food or cash donation.

As you know, the need never ends, so, if any of you can request a donation of food from your suppliers, that would be great also.

I know you need the location, date, and time. Some of those decisions are up to the City. We can tell you that the event will be held at the Knobbs Creek facility. The date and time will be determined later.

Knowing that the Elizabeth City community is the best there is, I thank you in advance, in full faith that you, and I, and all of us, will make this the a great benefit for people who desperately need our help.
