May 2010 - The Center Players perform "The Ever After"

Arts of the Albemarle: The Center Players return to the Maguire Theatre with a wonderful musical that the whole family can enjoy. "The Ever After" will stage two shows May 27th and 28th with shows at 8:00 pm both days. Tickets are $8 available at the front desk of The Center. The Players will be performing four other shows on these day but stricktly for schools.

Synopsis: Is Ever After really as happy as everyone expected? In a hilarious parody of daytime TV, host Sally Lizzie Jesse Donatello-Griffin wonders if time truly heals all wounds. She invites Cinderella and her middle-aged “beauty-impaired” stepsisters to reconcile with each other after being estranged for 20 years. What about Snow White and the Evil Queen? This hysterical fractured fairy tale has it all: a trash-talking clairvoyant mirror, an unfortunate prince who is turning slowly back into a frog and even Jiminy Cricket—now an occupational therapist and author of the book My Life as Your Conscience. The musical is punctuated by questions from obnoxious studio audience members and ridiculously funny infomercials for fairy tale related products, such as the Practical Princess Crown (which doubles as a purse and makeup case). Get ready for some knee-slapping and hand-clapping with great foot-tapping songs like "Beauty Impaired" and "Dainty Do-Gooder"!

The Center Players are proud to present our first one-act musical designed for children of all ages. Our students range from ages 8 to 17 and receive intensive training in theater, vocal music and dance during each session. Our students come from all over the Pasquotank and Camden County areas.
