NCCU Provost speaks for ECSU Honor’s Program Convocation on April 7

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — The ECSU Honors Program Convocation will be held at 2:00 pm on April 7 in the auditorium of the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center. During this convocation, dozens of awards will be distributed in recognition of the outstanding academic achievements of ECSU students. The speaker for the event is Kwesi E. Aggrey, the provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, at North Carolina Central University (NCCU).

Reporting directly to the Chancellor, Aggrey is the university’s chief academic officer. He oversees NCCU’s academic programs, and provides leadership for deans, department chairs, the university registrar, and faculty.

Aggrey’s experience includes several years as a professor of chemistry and years of senior professional and leadership roles in educational administration. Most recently, he served as vice chancellor for academic affairs at Indiana University–Northwest where he led efforts to establish the College of Health and Human Services. Prior to that, Aggrey served as Provost and Vice-President for Academic Affairs at Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania and as Vice Provost for Technology, Academic Budget and Personnel Services at Ramapo College of New Jersey. He has taught at Ramapo College of New Jersey, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, University of Hawaii at Manoa, and at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.

A native of Ghana, West Africa, Aggrey holds a doctorate in analytical chemistry from the University of Hawaii and a bachelor of science (Honors) in chemistry from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana. He studied organic chemical synthesis at the graduate level for one year at Brock University in Ontario, Canada. He is the recipient of the honorary Doctor of Science degree from KNUST, Ghana.

Kwesi Aggrey is married to Deborah Hamlin-Aggrey. They have three children; Angela, Gerald and Brian.
