2011 School Supply Drive Going on Now

The Elizabeth City Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring it's second

2011 School Supply Drive

“2 Give 2 Kids = 4 Success”

Please donate school supplies for local kids in need who attends Elizabeth City-Pasquotank and Camden County Schools

The drive started Monday, August 1st and go through Wednesday, August 31, 2011

In 2010, we launched our first School Supply Drive for the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank and Camden County Schools. It was such a great success that we ventured to make it an annual campaign. With so many children who have a need for help in getting school supplies, this drive gives our Chamber members and store patrons the opportunity to give back to the community in an educational way. What better way than to help children learn all they can with the tools needed to get the job done?

School supplies needed includes: backpacks, notebook paper, one-, two-, or three-inch notebook binders, one-subject spiral notebooks, double pockets folders, black & white composition notebooks, construction paper, dry-erase markers and highlighter sets, pens, pencils, erasers, wide-rule notebook paper, color tab dividers, rulers, index cards, colored pencil and marker sets, large glue sticks, and 16- and 24-count crayons, glue, scissors, pencil boxes, to name a few.

The Chamber has set-up a collection barrels at the following drop-off points: Chamber of Commerce lobby, Coastal Office Supplies, CVS, DRS, Office Max, Walgreen's, and Walmart. And with the generous support of the Food Bank of the Albemarle providing the barrels at each drop-off site, we all can make a positive impact in children lives. The items will be collected from August 1st through August 31st. At the end of the drive all collected items will be delivered to ECPPS and Camden County School System for distribution to disadvantaged students. Individuals who wish to donate school supplies are encouraged to place your items at any of the mentioned locations. Businesses interested in donating school supplies are encouraged to contact Barbara Judd at the Chamber of Commerce at 252-335-4365 or via email at bjudd@elizabethcitychamber.org.
