What’s Up at Port Discover

Science of Beer: Summer Brew Balloo
June 6, 6:30pm-9:00pm 
Join us at Montero's for our annual fundraiser. This is a 6-course meal each paired with a unique beer. Celebrity waiters competing for tips, beach attire, and fabulous door-prizes round out this fun-filled evening. This event is almost sold-out, so come grab your tickets. $30 per ticket. Tickets may be purchased by phone, at Port Discover, or online at www.portdiscover.org


1st Friday Kids Art-In:
Children must be age 5 - 12-years-old to participate. Space is very limited and reservations are encouraged. Cost is $10 for first child and $5 for each additional child (per family). Port Discover Membership is Required (Yet you can purchase a membership at the door)
Friday, June 7, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Port Discover offers Kids Night-In during the First Friday Art Walk. Parents let your children come to Port Discover to create some kid-friendly art and watch a movie, while you enjoy an evening on the town.

Second Saturday Science:
Second Saturday Science is Free. Reservations are required.
Saturday, June 8, 11:00 am : Fabulous Forestry
Please join us as Robb Davis, a local Pasquotank County Ranger, teaches us the science of forestry and why it's important to our ecosystem. If you like to play in the woods, this is the class for you.

Science Café - Topic: Carolina Bays
It's a science program just for the local adult community in an informal, casual restaurant setting, participants will be able to add to the conversation and ask questions. This program is FREE to attend.
Located at Montero's Restaurant, 414 N. McArthur St.

Eerie wetland depressions known as Carolina Bays are scattered across the Southeastern United States. Some of the most impressive are found right here in North Carolina. Come find out more as Dr. Malcolm LaCompte leads a discussion about these mysterious landforms.

Sprouting Scientists & Hands-On Historians
June 17-21 8:30am-12:00pm
Fee: $100/Non-Members $90/Members
Ages: 5 to 8-year-olds & 9 to 12-year-olds Children will discover all the science and history in their own backyards! Reserve your child’s spot in this popular day camp, registration open now! Campers enjoy hands-on science experiments and history explorations.

Toddler Time:
A science program just for preschoolers, ages 3 – 5. Cost for the program is $5 per child and reservations are required. Parents or guardians must accompany the child.
Thursday, June 20, 10:00 am : Peep, Peep!
Admire our newly hatched chicks and learn what's growing on the farm. We know that kids grow best with hands-on experiences and real life lessons. So come on down to the Port Discover farm and grow with us!
