BECOME A VOLUNTEER AT THE
Museum of the Albemarle

Discover the rewards of sharing North Carolina Albemarle region’s history with others. As a volunteer docent at the Museum of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City, you can meet people from around the world and learn more about northeastern North Carolina. If you are interested in becoming a museum volunteer, contact Charlotte Patterson, education coordinator, at 252-331-4032 or charlotte.patterson@ncdcr.gov to set up an interview.
A series of training classes continues on Wednesday, September 18 at 3 p.m., and take place every Wednesday through October.
During training classes, participants learn about interpreting touch items on exhibit Artifact Carts, leading exhibit tours for children and adults, and more. Share information about exhibits that include Our Story, Under Both Flags: Civil War in the Albemarle, and many other changing galleries.  Docents enjoy benefits such as field trips to historic sites, an annual appreciation luncheon, and lectures by guest speakers. To learn more about the benefits of becoming a docent and access an application, visit the museum’s website at museumofthealbemarle.com.
