Lady Vikings Secure Top Spot After Posting 14-1 Record

ELIZABETH CITY, NC - The Elizabeth City State University bowling team took first place overall at the CIAA Eastern Division Meet I held this past weekend at Albemarle Lanes.
All-CIAA performer Tiffany Johnson took the top individual score (for 8 games) with a 192.6 average (1541 pins). Shanice Watkins placed third overall (1634 pins/9 games) while Ryan Backus finished fourth (1473 pins/9 games). Overall all eight of ECSU’s bowlers placed in the top twenty for individual performances.
As for team standings the Lady Vikings (14-1) finished first overall followed by Bowie State (10-5), Virginia State (8-7), Saint Paul’s (8-7) and Virginia Union (1-14). Lincoln University of Pennsylvania also participated but did not place as they have yet to join the CIAA a full member. However the Lady Lions were the lone team to defeat ECSU; in the final match of the weekend LU took the teams’ baker matchup 622-573.
