Game to Feature Players from the Four HBCU Conferences

ATLANTA, GA - Four members of the Elizabeth City State University football team have been selected to play in the Russell Athletic HBCU Bowl Saturday, December 19th in Montgomery, Alabama.
ECSU’s honorees include All-CIAA performers Reggie Smith, Dylan Stivers, Justin Hamilton and Daniel Mendez. Earlier this month Smith was tabbed as for the All-CIAA First team as a punt returner and landed on the All-CIAA second team as a kickoff return man. Stivers made the First Team as an offensive lineman while Hamilton concluded his career at ECSU as a three-time (07,08,09) All-CIAA First Team selection at cornerback. Mendez, who handled the bulk of the punting and kicking duties for ECSU in 2009, was an All-CIAA Second Team selection.
The Vikings finished the year at 7-3 overall and in a three-way tie for the top of the CIAA Eastern Division.
The game will be played with an East vs. West format. The East team will comprise of the MEAC and CIAA conference players with the West team comprising of the SWAC and SIAC players. All players participating will be draft eligible seniors who have exhausted their college football eligibility. The Russell Athletic HBCU Bowl Selection Committee will evaluate game film, review statistics, coaches recommendations, and inquire information from professional scouts as they put together the best talent in HBCU football.
The Russell Athletic HBCU Bowl will kickoff at 2:00 pm at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, AL.
