Downtown Illumination and Christmas Land & Boat Parades

Traditionally, the EC Jaycees Christmas Parade is the first Saturday in December. This tradition will continue with new partnerships as four local organizations have come together for the benefit of the community to ring in the Holidays on the Harbor on Saturday, December 5th beginning at 5:30 pm. The Elizabeth City Jaycees, Elizabeth City Downtown, Inc. Pasquotank River Yacht Club and the River City Fraternal Order of Police have all partnered in sponsoring the biggest holiday celebration ever called "Harbor Holiday Celebration".
  1. Land Parade
    The theme is "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and will start at Westover Street, besides Bojangle’s, with the line up going downtown Catalina and run along Corsair Circle. All floats must enter from Hull Dr., between the Moose Lodge and Performance Chevrolet.

    1. First place trophies will be awarded for the following categories: Church, Civic Group, School Club, Band, and Business.

  2. Downtown Illumination
    Will take place as the Mayor of Elizabeth City and the Pasquotank County Commissioner (Parade Dignitaries) approach the intersection of South Road Street and East Main Street. The countdown will be begin the season with the bright and festive lights on East Main Street.

  3. Boat Parade
    The theme will be the same as the Land Parade, "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and will take place immediately following the Land Parade. Applications are available at Pelican Marina or send an email requested to elizabethcitydowntown@embarqmail.com. There are 2 classes of boats: Large 30 feet and up, and Small 29 feet and down. Boats must be in the water and tied up at Mariners’ Wharf Park by 5:00 pm. There will be a Skippers meeting at 5:30 pm. at the Hospitality Tent. Boats will light up and pass the waterfront after Santa passes from the Land Parade.

    1. Trophies will be awarded. If there are 3 or more civic, church, groups entered they will be awarded separately.

  4. Festive holiday music will be played on Mariners’ Wharf Park and free hot beverages will be served by the Fraternal Order of Police.
