Eat Your Vegetables! And Fruits and Gourmet Foods and ... Downtown Waterfront Market to Open April 18

(Elizabeth City, NC, April 7, 2009) – Leafy green lettuce, asparagus, broccoli, cabbage and early peas will be yours for the picking when the Downtown Waterfront Market kicks off its second season, Saturday April 18 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on the green at Mariners’ Wharf Park in Elizabeth City.

Under white tents filled with farm-fresh goods, vendors from throughout northeastern North Carolina will sell fresh produce, baked goods, gourmet foods, dairy products, plants and flowers and handcrafted wares. Local musicians and entertainers will perform, and coffee and fresh-squeezed limeades and orangeades will be available for purchase.

Brochures and fliers tout the market as a "vine-ripened, just-picked, fresh-made good time" – and that’s just the atmosphere the market conveys, says Market Coordinator Denise Richards.

"It’s become a great place to see your neighbors, have a coffee and enjoy the scene – while you shop for the freshest produce in town," Richards said. [read more]
