October 15, 2009

ELIZABETH CITY, NC - Prior the kickoff between Elizabeth City State and Lincoln University of Pennsylvania for Saturday’s Homecoming game the Vikings will pause to salute the student-athletes who will be playing for the final time at Roebuck Stadium.

Saturday marks Senior Day at Roebuck Stadium as ECSU bids farewell to 14 student-athletes. They include ; Ernest Gibson, Justin Hamilton, Chris Harris, Todd Irving, Tashawn Lee, Mike Lopez, Daniel Mendez, Todd Nelson, Torrey Nowell, Chris Randolph, Reggie Smith, Dylan Stivers, MacQuinton Vinson and Howard Williamson. Of those 14, ten are four-year seniors that will leave behind an impressive résumé. In 2006 they were part of a squad that posted the best record in school history (9-3) and hosted the first ever NCAA Playoff game at Roebuck Stadium. With a win Saturday the four-year seniors complete the first four-year span since 1968-71 that the Vikings have posted a .500 or better record in each season.

They also made appearances in two CIAA Championships in a three year span (2006-2008) falling one game short in 2007 of making three consecutive trips.

The pre-game ceremony will begin approximately 1:00 pm on Saturday. For more information on ECSU Athletics, visit www.ecsuvikings.com.
