Local Beekeepers Offer Beginner’s Beekeeping Class

February 1, 2010 (Elizabeth City, NC): Beekeepers of the Albemarle, a local beekeeping club, is hosting a beginner’s course for anyone interested in learning about and keeping honey bees.

The course, Introduction to Beekeeping, will be held Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, Pasquotank County Center. The building is located at 1209 McPherson Street, Elizabeth City, NC.

The course fee is $20.00 and includes a textbook, lunch, and great speakers.

Course topics will include the benefits of bees, beekeeping equipment, choosing a location for the hive, ways of getting started, how to install a package of bees, seasonal management, and honey.
