VIKINGS DEFEAT OHIO VALLEY 11-3


ECSU Avenges Double Header Sweep; Captures First Win of the Season

ELIZABETH CITY, NC-Elizabeth City State University earned their first win of the season with an 11-3 victory over Ohio Valley University Sunday afternoon at Pasquotank County High School.

ECSU trailed 2-0 through 3 ½ innings before reeling off 4 runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead for good. The rally began with two on; an RBI single by Kyle Meads drove in Stephen Green for ECSU’s first score of the afternoon. Jalen Thomas then singled to score Billy Kellum and subsequently load the bases. An errant pitch by Kyle York struck Nick Tyler for their third run then an RBI single by Justin Hooker scored Meads for the final run of the inning.

The Vikings held the Scots (2-1) to just one run for the remainder of the game while adding insurance of their own in innings five through seven to seal the game. Sadarius Lewis pitched a complete game striking out six to become ECSU’s first winner of the season.

The Vikings (1-2) will host Lincoln University in a double header on Friday, February 26 at Knobs Creek. Game time is scheduled for 1:00pm. For more information on ECSU Athletics, visit www.ecsuvikings.com
