DIVISION II and CBS COLLEGE SPORTS ANNOUNCE 2010 TELEVISION PACKAGE

Elizabeth City State, Virginia State Moved To Thursday, October 14th in Petersburg, VA

Division II and CBS College Sports Network have announced a six-game football television package for the 2010 season that features five outstanding conference matchups and a top nonconference game to start the season.

The package is the fifth since Division II and CBS College Sports Network established their partnership to provide Division II schools live national television exposure for their football and basketball programs.

The 2010 football schedule will open Thursday, September 2, with West Texas A&M visiting Grand Valley State. Last year, West Texas A&M won its last six games, including a 31-25 victory over Nebraska-Omaha in the Lower Kanza Bowl in Topeka, Kansas. Grand Valley State reached the 2009 Division II championship game against Northwest Missouri State last year before falling, 30-23. The Lakers have won two national titles since 2005 and reached the national semifinals in 2007.

The September 9 game will feature Arkansas Tech, a playoff team last year, at Delta State in a Gulf South Conference matchup. On September 23, Southern Connecticut State will host American International in a Northeast-10 Conference game.

Look for a scoring outburst September 30 when Fairmont State hosts West Liberty State in a battle of West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rivals. West Liberty State scored 119 points in two Division II playoff games last year, including an 84-63 first-round win over Edinboro.

On October 7, Shippensburg - a playoff team in 2009 - will travel to West Chester in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference game. The television package will conclude October 14 when Elizabeth City State visits Virginia State in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association matchup.

“Our partnership with CBS College Sports Network has provided a national platform to help us tell the Division II story,” said Division II Vice President Mike Racy. “During the past four years, we have brought the national TV spotlight to more than 50 Division II campuses, for more than 100 Division II colleges and universities, to showcase regular-season competition to a national audience. In this spirit we have packaged another compelling schedule this fall that will showcase Division II football from seven different conferences and feature teams from all four of our football regions.”

All six games are on Thursdays at 8:00 pm Eastern time.

Division II and CBS College Sports Network also televise an annual package of men’s and women’s basketball games. The 2010 basketball package will be announced later.
