JENKINS NAMED TO LINDY’S PRE-SEASON ALL-AMERICAN TEAM

Viking Senior is Lone CIAA Representative Named to Pre-Season Defensive First Team

ELIZABETH CITY, NC - Senior defensive lineman Malcolm Jenkins has been named to the Lindy’s Pre-Season Division II All-America First Team.

Jenkins is one of six CIAA honorees and the only student-athlete named to the Defensive First Team.

Last season Jenkins, who hails from Florence, NJ, was a member of the 2009 All-CIAA Defense First Team. He topped the CIAA in both sacks (11.5 for 65 yards) and tackles for loss with 22.5 for 105 yards. His sack and tackle for loss totals ranked 5th and 2nd respectively in NCAA Division II in 2009. He also tied at fourth in the conference in forced fumbles and twice was named CIAA Defensive Lineman of the Week.

Other CIAA honorees include David Mims of Virginia Union (First Team, OL), Marcus McElveen (Second Team, OL) along with Marcus Crump (St. Augustine’s, DL) Akeem Deloatch (Livingstone, DB) and Kenneth Turner (Bowie State, DB) who were all selected to the Defensive Second Team.
