October 2010 - Food Bank of the Albemarle Walk for Hunger

On October 10, 2010, rain or shine, the Food Bank of the Albemarle will hold its annual Walk for Hunger. Walkers will leave at 2:00 pm from Mariners’ Wharf Park in Elizabeth City and cover about 3.8 miles. The walk is the major fund raiser for the Food Bank, and we rely on the traditionally superb support and enthusiasm from our local communities, churches, businesses, organizations, and individuals to help provide the funds we need to serve the hungry in northeast North Carolina. Once again, there will be games for the children, camaraderie, and a great snack hosted and provided by Montero’s. Please consider taking part as a walker, a team organizer, or a sponsor. Your efforts will go a long way and make a great impact. For each dollar that is raised by our walkers and their sponsors, we are able to provide about five pounds of food. That is the equivalent of over four meals. Please circle October 10, 2010 on your calendar and dust off the walking shoes.

You may download walk materials at www.afoodbank.org. For more information call Cee Cee at 252-335-4035 extension 100 or John at extension 111.
