April 2011: Cledus T. Judd Show Canceled

Cledus T. Judd Show Canceled - Comedian Etta May is Coming to COA

College of The Albemarle regrets that the Cledus T. Judd show scheduled for Saturday, April 9th has been canceled. In a prepared statement, Kent Martin with SRO Productions, Inc states, "Cledus is canceling the rest of his tour dates and coming off the road to spend time with his father who is terminally ill with cancer. He regrets very much having to cancel your show but felt his need to be at home with his family is most important at this time. He appreciates your understanding and willingness to work with him on this."

Due to the cancellation, "Female Comic of The Year" Etta May will bring her comedy to COA to wrap up our Center Stage Theatre Season. The reigning queen of southern sass is a title earned and well deserved by comedian Etta May who will be performing her award winning, rib-tickling stand-up comedy show in Elizabeth City on Friday, April 8th at 7:00 pm in COA's community auditorium.

Etta May has made quite a name for herself in the comedy world. She was named Female Comic of the Year at the American Comedy Awards; performed at the Aspen Comedy Festival hosted by Jerry Seinfeld and starred in a CMT special Southern Fried Chicks; has been invited to perform at the 15th anniversary of The Comedy Story hosted by David Letterman and featured in the special Greats of Country Comedy hosted by Jeff Foxworthy.

With a make-up free face and a bandanna to cover her hair, Etta May is certainly a haggard beauty, who offers a different kind of comedy. With a sassy southern accent and the ability to get away with saying anything that flies into her mind, Etta May's stand up provides a fun evening filled with belly laughs. She touches at the heart of what it means to be a middle class woman struggling to make her way in the world, and she does so with humor and cleverness that can make even the most stoic face crack a smile.

If you have a season ticket for the Center Stage Theatre series, your season ticket will be honored for the Etta May Show. If you need to purchase tickets, prices are $15.00 General Admission and $12 for students, military, and seniors. You can call College of The Albemarle's box office at 252-335-9050 or purchase tickets online at eTix.com - keyword Albemarle. COA's Auditorium is located at 1208 North Road Street.
