Arts of the Albemarle Awarded 2011 Non-Profit of the Year

(Elizabeth City, NC-February 28) Arts of the Albemarle was awarded the Elizabeth City/Pasquotank County Chamber of Commerce’s Non-Profit of the Year during its Centennial Celebration held on Friday, February 19th at the Kermit E. White Center in Elizabeth City.

Nominations for this annual award are taken from members of the Chamber and then selected by the Chamber Board of Directors. One of six nominations for Non-Profit of the Year, Jennifer Palestrant, Chamber President had this to say, “The Chamber is extremely proud of all that Arts of the Albemarle has done to enhance the lives of our citizens. It is an award well deserved.”

The Non-Profit of the Year award represents the most outstanding non-profit which has shown significant impact on the community. “We are thrilled to have been nominated and honored to have been selected. It has been an exciting year for Arts of the Albemarle and we want to continue doing all we can to make our community a wonderful place in which to live, work and play,” says Ray Meiggs, Executive Director of Arts of the Albemarle.”

AoA at The Center offers diverse programs in arts and education through its School of the Arts, the visual arts and the performing arts.
