Keynote Speaker: Jeff Aldridge, a member of the Foundation Board of Directors and grandson of Senator N. Elton Aydlett. Senator Aydlett was the Foundation’s first president, serving from 1980 to 1982, and initiated the college in 1960 as the first community college in North Carolina. As senator from 1955 to 1965, he also obtained the necessary appropriation from the General Assembly in support of the college.
