College of The Albemarle Partners with North Carolina Wesleyan College

 

College of The Albemarle (COA) and North Carolina Wesleyan College (NCWC) have entered into a partnership that will assist regional associate degree graduates in achieving their Bachelor of Science degrees.

On July 30^th, COA President Dr. Kandi Deitemeyer and NCWC President James Gray, III signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two
colleges which outlines the agreement for Wesleyan to begin offering classes at COA. The partnership with NC Wesleyan brings a highly respected four year business degree to the College of The Albemarle's Dare County Campus.  Students will have the opportunity to remain local to the Outer Banks yet continue their studies beyond a two-year degree.

 “COA is excited about the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding with NC Wesleyan College,” said Dr. Deitemeyer. “This is an exceptional opportunity for our students to seamlessly transition from the community college directly to the university level in the Business Administration Program. With a university representative located at our Dare County Campus, COA students will receive guidance and assistance which will ensure their success."

Wesleyan will be offering their Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree as well as their Bachelor of Science in Organizational Administration degree on the Dare County campus starting in January 2014. The classes run one night per week from 6pm-10pm for eight weeks. Students will have the option to take a mix of online and face-to-face courses. The main difference between these two degrees is that Business Administration focuses on major business practices giving students exposure to accounting, economics, finance, and management. Organizational Administration focuses more broadly on the human relations functions of business with coursework in social psychology, industrial and organizational psychology, sociology of the workplace, as well as management and political science courses.

“NC Wesleyan College is excited to partner with College of The Albemarle to reach the working adults in northeastern North Carolina to help them earn their bachelor’s degree,” said Dr. Evan Duff, NCWC Vice President of Adult and Professional Studies. “These working adults are typically geographically bound and providing access to a bachelor’s degree on the campus they earned their associates degree is essential.” 

An Admissions and Advising Coordinator will be on the campus of COA full-time to assist previous COA graduates and soon-to-be COA graduates. The advisor will be in place by late September in office 108 (A) at the Dare County campus. Students can start their applications now at www.ncwc.edu/adult
