VIKINGS PICKED TO FINISH SECOND IN THE CIAA EAST

Trent Bivens Receives Nod on 2009-2010 All-CIAA Pre-Season Team

CHARLOTTE, NC - The CIAA unveiled the 2009-10 Pre-Season All-Conference Team and Predicted Order of Finish Thursday morning at the annual press conference at the Charlotte Convention Center.

Junior guard Trent Bivens, the Vikings’ third leading scorer last season at 11.4 points per outing, receives the first pre-season nod of his career. The Durham, NC native netted double figures in 15 games last season and started in 26 of 28 contests.

The Elizabeth City State Vikings, coming off a 21-7 record last season, were voted to finish second in the CIAA Eastern Division behind Virginia Union University. Bowie State, Virginia State and Saint Paul’s College round out the predicted order of finish for the East. Defending CIAA Champion Johnson C. Smith University was voted to finish first in the West followed by St. Augustine’s, Shaw, Fayetteville State, Livingstone College and Chowan University.
