
Lady Vikings Earn Season Split with Hawks

ELIZABETH CITY, NC - Kenyatta Gill scored 14 points and pulled down 14 rebounds as the Elizabeth City State Lady Vikings topped Chowan University 59-50 Saturday night at the RL Vaughan Center.
At the 18:30 mark of the second half a layup by Crystal Smith gave ECSU their biggest lead of the night (35-21). The Hawks then fought back with a 15-1 run to tie the game at 36 all with 12:04 remaining. The score tied on three more occasions before the Lady Vikings reeled off a 10-1 run of their own to claim the lead for good.
ECSU’s bench outscored the Hawks’ reserves 27-9 led by 11 points by Kearah Jefferys. The Lady Vikings also made the most of their time at the free throw line going 14-19 on the evening.
Freshman Talaya Lynch led all scorers with 19 points as the Hawks fall to 7-9 overall and 5-7 in the CIAA.
