HOT SHOOTING PROPELS ECSU TO 82-58 WIN OVER FSU BRONCOS

Bivens Matches Season High 25 Points as ECSU Sweeps Season Series with FSU

ELIZABETH CITY, NC - The Elizabeth City State Vikings shot a season high 56 % from the field in route to a 82-58 win over Fayetteville State University Monday night at the RL Vaughan Center.

Junior Trent Bivens matched his personal season best of 25 points to lead all scorers. Marquie Cooke added 19 points and five steals while Paul Goldsmith collected his fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The Broncos trailed 35-29 at the break but rallied midway through the second half to knot the game at 43 points. The Vikings responded with a 7-0 run to retake the lead and on a Bivens layup with 6:38 to go ECSU’s lead had ballooned to double digits and it remained that way for the game’s duration.

The Broncos had only three field goals in the game’s final ten minutes and sans four free throws, were held scoreless between the 10:06 and 1:34 marks on the clock.

Ariel Robinson finished with team highs of 20 points and 11 rebounds as the Broncos slip to 5-11 overall and 2-8 in the CIAA.

The Vikings (10-8, CIAA 5-7) will open up their Eastern Division schedule when they travel to take on Bowie State University this Thursday, January 28th. Game time is scheduled for 7:30pm. For more information on ECSU Athletics, visit www.ecsuvikings.com
