ECSU HANDS SAINT PAUL’S 68-49 DEFEAT

Vikings Use Second Half Run to Put the Game Out of Reach

ELIZABETH CITY, NC - Angelo Sharpless led the way with a team high 18 points off the bench as Elizabeth City State cruised to a 68-49 win over Saint Paul’s College Monday evening at the RL Vaughan Center.

Sharpless scored 12 of his game high 18 points in the first half as ECSU blasted out to a 39-23 halftime lead. The Vikings then opened the second half on a 10-0 run to push the lead to 51-23 and were never seriously threatened from there. The Tigers (5-17, CIAA 3-16) faced a 20 plus deficit the remainder of the game with the exception of a basket by Ibn-Saeed Rasoull with 46 seconds left to play for the final point spread of 19.

Trent Bivens was the only other Viking in double figures with 14 points.

Maurice Reevy and Kendrick Williams each tied for a team high 11 for Saint Paul’s.

ECSU (14-12, CIAA 8-11) will wrap up the regular season with Virginia State on Thursday, February 18th. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 pm in Daniel Gymnasium for more on ECSU Athletics, visit www.ecsuvikings.com.
