MUSEUM TALK FOCUSES ON TWO LEGENDARY AFRICAN-AMERICAN LEADERS


Elizabeth City, NC) On Sunday, March 7, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., as part of its Albemarle Historic Roundtable, The Museum of the Albemarle will present: “Mt. Lebanon, Hugh Cale and J.C. Price: A Historic African-American Church and Two of Her Remarkable Sons,” a talk by retired public school teacher Eddie Davis. Mr. Davis will lead a discussion on the Post-Reconstruction emergence of two legendary African-American leaders, Hugh Cale and J.C. Price, members of the historic Mt. Lebanon Church in Elizabeth City. The presentation will focus on the political, educational, religious, and social fabric of African-American life and leadership during the years 1860 through 1910, and will include background on the founding of Elizabeth City State University and Livingstone College.
