OHIO VALLEY COMPLETES SWEEP; DOWNS ECSU 16-11 IN GAME TWO


Scots’ Score Multiple Runs in Final at Bat to Earn Double Header Sweep

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Ohio Valley University scored six runs in the top of the seventh to rally past Elizabeth City State 16-11 Saturday afternoon at Pasquotank County High School.

Trailing 11-10 and down to their final out with the bases loaded the Scots (2-0) took a 12-11 lead after two batters were hit by errant pitches. After a pitching change resulted in walks by the next two runners, a 2 RBI single by Josh Saavedra scored two more runners before Chaz Mohler flied out to left field, ending the Scots rally.

In their half of the seventh the Vikings managed to get two on base before Justin Hooker grounded out to first base to end the game. There were seven lead changes in the game before the Scots’ scoring outburst in their final at bat.
