ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Ohio Valley University’s Kyle Lawrence gave up only three hits as the Fighting Scots blanked Elizabeth City State 5-0 Saturday afternoon at Pasquotank County High School in game one of a non-conference doubleheader.
Lawrence did walk three but went the distance to earn the victory, striking out 13 batters along the way. The Scots (1-0) scored two runs each in the second and third innings and added another in the top of the fourth in the win. The Vikings committed four errors on the afternoon and went 3-24 at the plate. Styron Barfield (0-1), who faced 31 batters, pitched a complete game for the Vikings, striking out three.
