Ghostly Tours, Tastings and Tailgating Highlight October Calendar
(Elizabeth City, NC, Sept. 14, 2010) – Elizabeth City ghosts—and famous wayfaring apparitions—will haunt a host of stately sites during the 14th Annual Historic Ghost Walk (www.HistoricGhostWalk.org), Oct. 1-2 in Downtown Elizabeth City. Presented by the Elizabeth City Historic Neighborhood Association, the self-guided tour leads visitors to eight homes and buildings listed on the National Register. At each stop, costumed actors, portraying real-life characters, spin their stories. Learn how bandleader Guy Lombardo raced the Tempo VII to the finish during the 1955 International Cup Regatta, or what happened to newsman Walter Cronkite in 1991 when he rode out Hurricane Grace at Mariners’ Wharf.
