Division II Football Game Set for January 7, 2011
December 6, 2010
KINGSVILLE, TX - Elizabeth City State University’s Malcolm Jenkins has been selected to participate in the Cactus Bowl on January 7, 2011 at Javelina Stadium.
Jenkins, who last month completed his football career at ECSU, was the CIAA’s Defensive Player of the Year and is one of eight student-athletes in the country in contention for the Gene Upshaw Award as the top lineman in NCAA Division II. Last week he was named to the Super Region 1 First team and is up for All-American consideration.
Now in its 10th year, the Cactus Bowl is the nation’s most high profile Division II All-Star game. Its mission is to bring together the finest football athletes from the 150 plus universities which comprise NCAA Division II. The first nine years the Cactus Bowl has produced over 100 players signed by the NFL and in the inaugural Bowl game alone, 25 players signed NFL contracts, inspiring the game slogan "the best players you've never seen."
