Lady Vikings Drop First Home Game of the Season
September 23, 2009
ELIZABETH CITY, NC - The Elizabeth City State Lady Vikings fell in four games to the University of North Carolina-Pembroke Wednesday night at the RL Vaughan Center.
The Braves (6-7) took the first two games pouncing on ECSU 25-13 before squeezing out game two by four points, 25-21. The Lady Vikings used better play and the momentum from game two’s tight score to edge UNCP 25-23 in game three.
Game three was the best attacking performance of the match for ECSU (and the only one with double digit kills) as the Lady Vikings tallied 15 kills versus 6 errors to take it 25-23. An ECSU comeback was not to be for ECSU as the Braves regrouped and behind a match high 19 kills by Allie Schneider closed out the final game 25-17.
Lia Scott was the only Lady Viking with double digit kills, finishing with a team high 12 in the loss.
The Lady Vikings (11-8) will face Peace College in Raleigh, NC on Friday, September 25th at 6:00 pm. For more information on ECSU Athletics, visit www.ecsuvikings.com.
