"Discover EC" Advertising and Marketing Co-Op Program Marks Successful First Year
(Elizabeth City, NC, June 16, 2009) – The first year of the "Discover EC" Advertising and Marketing Co-Op Program generated exceptional exposure for the region, reaching approximately 6 million people through a comprehensive marketing and advertising campaign, according to the Elizabeth City Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (ECACVB).

"The Elizabeth City area hospitality industry understands that to effectively publicize the region, we must work as a team," said ECACVB Director Charlotte Underwood. "By combining our resources, we were able to extend our marketing reach to a much larger audience with targeted, timely messages." [read more]

"Market Impossible Throw Down!" Chefs Andy Montero and Andy Lewis to Face Off, June 27, for Live Cooking Event
(Elizabeth City, NC, June 11, 2009) – Does cooking dinner have you in a race against the clock? Andy Montero and Andy Lewis will soon relate. The Elizabeth City chefs will have one hour to shop for and prepare a gourmet meal before a live audience when the Downtown Waterfront Market hosts a "Market Impossible Throw Down!" June 27 at 10:00 am in Elizabeth City.

Provided with a few choice cooking staples and a "mystery" protein, the chefs will have 10 minutes to scour the market for fresh produce and goods, then 50 minutes to whip up an inspired entrée and some sides. A panel of judges will decide the winner. [read more]

Downtown Waterfront Market to Host Harvest Festival for Season's Final Market Day, Oct. 25
(Elizabeth City, N.C., Oct. 3, 2008) – An “Anything But Pie” cooking contest and a costume competition for pets and their owners will highlight the Downtown Waterfront Market’s Harvest Festival, Oct. 25 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mariners’ Wharf in Elizabeth City. Market-goers can expect an array of locally-grown fall fruits and vegetables for the year’s final market day, in addition to fun, seasonal activities. [read more]
